10 Tevet

JEWISH CALENDAR IN ACTION
By Hillel Fendel

Today, the 10th of Tevet, is a day of fasting, commemorating the siege
of Jerusalem led by Nebuchadnezzar - the ancient Babylonian despot of
whom Saddam Hussein claimed to be a reincarnation.

Just a day after the hanging of Saddam Hussein, Jews around the world
remember another cruel tyrant - Saddam's self-proclaimed role model -
and his murderous plans for the Jewish People. Nebuchadnezzar was
more successful than Saddam in this regard, in that he destroyed
Jerusalem and the Holy Temple, and put hundreds of thousands of Jews,
including the nation's king and leaders, to death with unspeakable
cruelty.

On this day, the 10th of Tevet, Nebuchadnezzar instated a tight siege
on Jerusalem, setting off the chain of events that led to the
destruction of the First Holy Temple and a 70-year exile of the Jewish
People from their Holy Land.

Today, nearly 2,500 years later, Jews around the world - and
especially in the modern renewed edition of the Jewish State that
Nebuchadnezzar tried to rub out - refrain from eating and drinking
until sunset to remember the calamities that occurred at that time.

Saddam Hussein, who was hanged yesterday in Baghdad, just 90
kilometers from Nebuchadnezzar's palace in the ancient city of Babyon,
modeled himself in many ways after Nebuchadnezzar.

Much of the brickwork in the throne room of King Nebuchadnezzar's
palace, for instance, was built by Saddam Hussein's workers. Just as
the original bricks are inscribed with words praising Nebuchadnezzar,
the newer ones - 60 million of them! - state that they were fashioned
in "the era of Saddam Hussein, protector of Iraq, who rebuilt
civilization and rebuilt Babylon."

In addition, in his book "Saddam Hussein, the Stairway to Heaven and
the Return of Planet X," William Henry writes, "Saddam is saying he is
the reincarnated Nebuchadnezzar... He is attempting to recreate and
outdo the feats of the biblical king... It is well known that [he]
has connected himself with Nebuchadnezzar, spending over $500 million
during the 1980s on the reconstruction and the re-establishment of
ancient Babylon, the capitol of Nebuchadnezzar."

Nebuchadnezzar was Divinely changed into an animal for a period of
time - an event that many recalled when the once-opulent Saddam
Hussein was captured two and a half years ago living in nearly
animal-like conditions.

The Tenth of Tevet has also taken on another facet, in connection with
the Holocaust. Many bereaved Jews who do not know the date or place
of death of their loved ones recite Kaddish, the Jewish prayer for
those who have died, on this day. For this reason, some consider this
day as a Holocaust remembrance day.

May the L-RD Increase Your Numbers

Psalms 115

14May the Lord increase your numbers,

yours and your children's also.

15May you be blessed by the Lord,

Maker of heaven and earth.

16The heavens belong to the Lord,

but the earth He gave over to man.

17The dead cannot praise the Lord,

nor any who go down into silence.

18But we will bless the Lord

now and forever.

Hallelujah.

*1. The first German serviceman killed in WW2 was killed by the
Japanese
(China, 1937), the first American serviceman killed was killed by the
Russians (Finland 1940), the highest ranking American killed was Lt.
Gen.
Lesley McNair, killed by the US Army Air Corps. . . So much for allies.
*

**

*2. The youngest US serviceman was 12 year old Calvin Graham, USN. He
was
wounded and given a Dishonorable Discharge for lying about his age.
(His
benefits were later restored by act of Congress.) *

**

*3. At the time of Pearl Harbor the top US Navy command was called
CINCUS
(pronounced "sink us"), the shoulder patch of the US Army's 45th
Infantry
division was the Swastika, and Hitler's private train was
named "Amerika."
All three were soon changed for PR purposes. *

**

*4. More US servicemen died in the Air Corps than the Marine Corps.
While
completing the required 30 missions your chance of being killed was
71%. *

**

*5. Generally speaking there was no such thing as an average fighter
pilot. You were either an ace or a target. For instance Japanese ace
Hiroyoshi Nishizawa shot down over 80 planes. He died while a
passenger on
a cargo plane. *

**

*6. It was a common practice on fighter planes to load every 5th round
with
a tracer round to aid in aiming. This was a mistake. Tracers had
different
ballistics so (at long range) if your tracers were hitting the target
80% of
your rounds were missing. Worse yet tracers instantly told your enemy
he
was under fire and from which direction. Worst of all was the practice
of
loading a string of tracers at the end of the belt to tell you that
you were
out of ammo. This was definitely not something you wanted to tell the
enemy. Units that stopped using tracers saw their success rate nearly
double
and their loss rate go down. *

**

*YOU'VE GOT TO LOVE THIS ONE.... *

*
7. When allied armies reached the Rhine the first thing men did was
pee in
it. This was pretty universal from the lowest private to Winston
Churchill
(who made a big show of it) and Gen. Patton (who had himself
photographed in
the act) found the photo (hand tinted black and white) *

**

*8. German Me-264 bombers were capable of bombing New York City but it
wasn't worth the effort. *

**

*9. German submarine U-120 was sunk by a malfunctioning toilet. *

**

*10. Among the first "Germans" captured at Normandy were several
Koreans. They had been forced to fight for the Japanese Army until
they were
captured by the Russians and forced to fight for the Russian Army
until they
were captured by the Germans and forced to fight for the German Army
until
they were captured by the US Army. *

**

*AND I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST.... *

*
11. Following a massive naval bombardment 35,000 US and Canadian troops
stormed ashore at Kiska, in the Aleutian Islands. 21 troops were
killed in
the firefight. It would only have been worse if there had been any
Japanese
on the island.*

Nope, .I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?
So,
to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics
intent
on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to
profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-
old
women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret
agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old
Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former
Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40
alone
lest they be guilty of profiling. Let's send this to as many people as
we
can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along
with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly
ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense. As the writer of
the
award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it, "Stupid is as
stupid
does."

Come on people wake up!!! Keep this going. Pass it on to everyone in
your
address book. Our Country and our troops need our support.

The Milleniel Reign

NETANYAHU: BEWARE THE DEVELOPING 'ISLAMIC REICH'
By Hana Levi Julian and Hillel Fendel

Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu warned foreign ambassadors in Tel
Aviv that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is working to create a
1,000-year Islamic Reich.

The former prime minister told a gathering of some 60 diplomats on
Tuesday that Ahmadinejad is planning to carry out his genocide program
using the nuclear weapon Iranian scientists are now building.

"It's true," Netanyahu said, "that we only have three years to stop
the Iranian nuclear program - but that's 1,000 days, and enough time
to do the job."

Mossad Intelligence organization chief Meir Dagan, in one of his rare
appearances at the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee,
said this week that Iran is likely to succeed in developing an atomic
bomb by 2009 or 2010.

Ahmadinejad announced ten days ago that Iran had expanded production
in its national uranium enrichment program by adding 3,000 centrifuges
at a facility in the center of the country. Dagan said Iran plans to
add another 3,000 centrifuges within the coming year.

Iran's nuclear process has been negated by the United Nations Security
Council, but its permanent members, as well as Germany, have still not
come to an agreement on whether to impose sanctions against the
Islamic Republic.

Netanyahu warned that the world's governments must take action against
Iran before Ahmadinejad succeeds in his mission to become the next
Adolph Hitler.

There are two main differences between Hitler's threats of 1938 and
Ahmadinejad's threats now, the former Prime Minister said: "Then,
there was no independent Jewish state, and - this time we know in
advance what can happen when threats like this are made... We now know
that when a world leader openly calls for genocide - believe him."

Netanyahu also called for prosecuting Ahmadinejad in the International
Court at The Hague for encouraging genocide. MK Danny Naveh and
former Ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold support the move,
though it is not thought to have much chance of success.

VAYYAKHEL 61207

This is the next to the last section in the Exodus Bible Study.
Every Thursday night 7pm.

The actual construction of the Sanctuary.
Scripture describes how every detail was carried out.

Assembled

The Congregation

Exodus 35 - 38.20

EX 35:1 And Moses assembled all the congregation of the children of
Israel, and said unto them: 'These are the words which the LORD hath
commanded, that ye should do them.
EX 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there
shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of solemn rest to the LORD;
whosoever doeth any work therein shall be put to death.
EX 35:3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the
sabbath day.'
EX 35:4 And Moses spoke unto all the congregation of the children of
Israel, saying: 'This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying:
EX 35:5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD, whosoever is
of a willing heart, let him bring it, the LORD'S offering: gold, and
silver, and brass;
EX 35:6 and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats'
hair;
EX 35:7 and rams' skins dyed red, and sealskins, and acacia-wood;
EX 35:8 and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil, and
for the sweet incense;
EX 35:9 and onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for
the breastplate.
EX 35:10 And let every wise-hearted man among you come, and make all
that the LORD hath commanded:
EX 35:11 the tabernacle, its tent, and its covering, its clasps, and
its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets;
EX 35:12 the ark, and the staves thereof, the ark-cover, and the veil
of the screen;
EX 35:13 the table, and its staves, and all its vessels, and the
showbread;
EX 35:14 the candlestick also for the light, and its vessels, and its
lamps, and the oil for the light;
EX 35:15 and the altar of incense, and its staves, and the anointing
oil, and the sweet incense, and the screen for the door, at the door
of the tabernacle;
EX 35:16 the altar of burnt-offering, with its grating of brass, its
staves, and all its vessels, the laver and its base;
EX 35:17 the hangings of the court, the pillars thereof, and their
sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court;
EX 35:18 the pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and
their cords;
EX 35:19 the plaited garments, for ministering in the holy place, the
holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to
minister in the priest's office.'
EX 35:20 And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed
from the presence of Moses.
EX 35:21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and
every one whom his spirit made willing, and brought the LORD'S
offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all the service
thereof, and for the holy garments.
EX 35:22 And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-
hearted, and brought nose-rings, and ear-rings, and signet-rings, and
girdles, all jewels of gold; even every man that brought an offering
of gold unto the LORD.
EX 35:23 And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and
scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red,
and sealskins, brought them.
EX 35:24 Every one that did set apart an offering of silver and brass
brought the LORD'S offering; and every man, with whom was found acacia-
wood for any work of the service, brought it.
EX 35:25 And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their
hands, and brought that which they had spun, the blue, and the purple,
the scarlet, and the fine linen.

MOST POPULAR NAMES: URI AND NOA
By Hillel Fendel

Uri, Noam, Itai, Ido and David were the most popular given boy's names
in 2005, while Noa, Shira, Agam, Maya and Tamar topped the charts for
girls.

The next most popular girl's names last year were Roni, Yael, Adi,
Sarah, Yovel, Hila and Michal. The next most popular boy's names last
year were Ro'i, Amit, Yosef, Moshe and Yehonatan. Daniel, the most
popular boy's name two years ago, dropped last year to 13th place.

Three percent of the Jewish girls who were born in 2005 were given the
name Noa, while 2.1% of the boys were named Uri.

It has become increasingly popular to "share" names between boys and
girls. Among the names given to both genders are Noam, Lior, Or,
Shachar, Tal, Osher, and more.

Other numbers published this week by the Central Bureau of Statistics
in honor of the upcoming International Children's Day include:
* One-third of Israel's population in 2005 was children under age 17 -
a total of 2,326,400.
* The highest proportion of children - 63% - lives in the
hareidi-religious Yesha town of Beitar Illit. Some Bedouin villages
have similar numbers.
* 51.4% of the babies born last year were boys.
* 92% of children live with both their parents.
* Just over 69% of the children are Jewish, while just under 24% are
Moslems.
* 143,900 babies were born, including 70% Jews and 23.7% Moslems -
thus that the proportion of Jewish births increased slightly.

Olmert: The Time Has Come (Signs?)

OLMERT: THE TIME HAS COME TO ACT AGAINST IRAN
By Yechiel Spira

The nuclear threat from Iran remains atop of Prime Minister Ehud
Olmert's agenda as he calls upon the international community to act.

In his White House meeting this week, Mr. Olmert focused on the threat
resulting from Iran's continued nuclear enrichment towards
constructing an atom bomb. While America is sensitive to Israel's
concerns, the European community and Russia are not as anxious to act
against Tehran, preferring to take a more diplomatic approach,
opposing stiff American sanctions.

Speaking to a Los Angeles Jewish forum on Tuesday, the prime minister
called upon moderate Arab nations, too, to act against Iran, warning
that the point of no return has arrived.

Earlier in the week, Vice Premier Shimon Peres stated that a nuclear
Iran is a threat to everyone, including Russia. He warned of the
instability that will result if Tehran is permitted to achieve nuclear
independence.

Addressing the General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities of
North America, known as the GA, Mr. Olmert stated that a nuclear Iran
will result in a level of instability that has never been known
before. Calling for a coalition of moderate Arab nations, Olmert
stated such a coalition can and must act to prevent such a level of
instability in the region by directing efforts against radical Islamic
elements.

On the heels of his White House meeting with U.S. President George W.
Bush, Olmert praised him as a true friend of Israel who shares
Jerusalem's concerns and is committed to preventing Iran from moving
ahead with its nuclear agenda. The prime minister stated Israel and
America see eye-to-eye on the Iranian issue.

The prime minister's concerns regarding Iran are echoed by others in
Israel, including much of the political left. It is widely agreed
that a nuclear Iran would pose unprecedented challenges to Israel, not
to mention threatening her very existence.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad continues to use every platform
available to him to call for the eradication of Israel. At the same
time, he insists his nuclear program is for peaceful medical purposes.
Ahmadinejad continues to defend Tehran's right to develop a nuclear
weapon, largely supported by Russia, which continues to counter
American efforts to impose stiff sanctions on Iran.

In defiance of United Nations Security Council decisions, Tehran
scientists forge ahead with their nuclear program. Ahmadinejad has
often threatened that any thought of a military attack by western
countries would be met with a swift and painful retaliation.

Vice Premier Peres recently pointed out that in Iran's case, even
stiff economic sanctions will have little impact, as national poverty
is a way of life and most citizens would never realize a difference
following sanctions. Peres hinted that a more aggressive approach
must be taken.

Fw: "Where Is The West?"

*Where is the West?* By Thomas Sowell Thursday, November 9, 2006

European nations protesting Saddam Hussein's death sentence, as they
protested against forcing secrets out of captured terrorists, should
tell us all we need to know about the internal degeneration of western
society, where so many confuse squeamishness with morality.

Two generations of being insulated from the reality of the
international jungle, of not having to defend their own survival
because they have been living under the protection of the American
nuclear umbrella, have allowed too many Europeans to grow soft and
indulge themselves in illusions about brutal realities and dangers.

The very means of their salvation have been demonized for decades in
anti-nuclear movements and protesters calling themselves "anti-war."
But there is a huge difference between being anti-war in words and
being anti-war in deeds.

How many times, in its thousands of years of history, has Europe gone
60 years without a major war, as it has since World War II? That peace
has been due to American nuclear weapons, which was all that could
deter the Soviet Union's armies from marching right across Europe to
the Atlantic Ocean.

Having overwhelming military force on your side, and letting your
enemies know that you have the guts to use it, is being genuinely anti-
war. Chamberlain's appeasement brought on World War II and Reagan's
military buildup ended the Cold War.

The famous Roman peace of ancient times did not come from
negotiations, cease-fires, or pretty talk. It came from the Roman
Empire's crushing defeat and annihilation of Carthage, which served as
a warning to anyone else who might have had any bright ideas about
messing with Rome.

Only after the Roman Empire began to lose its own internal cohesion,
patriotism and fighting spirit over the centuries did it begin to
succumb to its external enemies and finally collapse.

That seems to be where western civilization is heading today.

Internal cohesion? Not only does much of today's generation in western
societies have a "do your own thing" attitude, defying rules and
flouting authority are glorified and Balkanization
through "multiculturalism" has become dogma.

Patriotism? Not only is patriotism disdained, the very basis for pride
in one's country and culture is systematically undermined in our
educational institutions at all levels.

The achievements of western civilization are buried in histories that
portray every human sin found here as if they were peculiarities of
the west.

The classic example is slavery, which existed all over the world for
thousands of years and yet is incessantly depicted as if it was a
peculiarity of Europeans enslaving Africans. Barbary pirates alone
brought twice as many enslaved Europeans to North Africa as there were
Africans brought in bondage to the United States and the American
colonies from which it was formed.

How many schools and colleges are going to teach that, going against
political correctness and undermining white guilt?

How many people have any inkling that it was precisely western
civilization which eventually turned against slavery and began
stamping it out when non-western societies still saw nothing wrong
with it?

How can a generation be expected to fight for the survival of a
culture or a civilization that has been trashed in its own
institutions, taught to tolerate even the intolerance of other
cultures brought into its own midst, and conditioned to regard any
instinct to fight for its own survival as being a "cowboy"?

Western nations that show any signs of standing up for self-
preservation are rare exceptions. The United States and Israel are the
only western nations which have no choice but to rely on self-defense -
- and both are demonized, not only by our enemies but also by many in
other western nations.

Australia recently told its Muslim population that, if they want to
live under Islamic law, then they should leave Australia. That makes
three western nations that have not yet completely succumbed to the
corrosive and suicidal trends of our times.

If and when we all succumb, will the epitaph of western civilization
say that we had the power to annihilate our enemies but were so
paralyzed by confusion that we ended up being annihilated ourselves?

War Declared (Signs?)

FATAH'S AL-AKSA BRIGADES AND OTHERS DECLARE WAR ON AMERICA
By Nissan Ratzlav-Katz

Four Palestinian Authority terrorist groups, including that of PA
President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah organization, called on Muslims
worldwide to attack America "with no mercy."

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, the four groups announced that
the United States will be a target for them to the same extent Israel
is. They warned that they will attack American targets because of
"American support for Israeli crimes and acts of massacre, such as the
one in Beit Hanoun."

In the joint communique, the terrorists call on "all free people of
the world, and all the mujahadeen [jihadists] to hit the US
with no mercy." They added that "Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan are
all being destroyed by American weapons; they who plant the bombs and
destruction in the region should reap the results of what they planted
with their soldiers and warplanes."

The statement more specifically called on the Arab states to support
the terrorist groups financially and materially, to "enhance the
resistance against the Israeli and American enemy."

The communique was released in reaction to the US veto on Saturday of
a United Nations Security Council resolution that would have condemned
Israel's counter-terrorism offensive in the Gaza region, which
apparently led to the deaths of at least 18 Arab civilians. The
resolution also would have established a UN fact-finding team, as well
as creating "an international mechanism" tasked with "protection of
the civilian populations." In their joint statement, the terrorist
groups called the UNSC a "false council... to protect Israel and its
security, to the detriment of Palestinian blood."

In addition to the Fatah's Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades, the call to
attack the U.S. was issued by the Popular Resistance Committee's Salah
A-Din (Saladin) Brigades, the ad-hoc Abu Rish Brigades and the Tawheed
Brigades. The last-mentioned group may be affiliated with the
international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.

The four terrorist factions declared: "America, of the false
civilization, ignores yet again the blood of innocent people. They
have no guilt, yet the Americans look at it [Palestinian blood] as
cheaper than Jewish blood. Beit Hanoun was a massacre committed by
Israeli hands, using American weapons under US official supervision,
with a green light from the US, completed by the Americans' use of the
veto in the Security Council."
